RIAG expects 100% attendance from all pupils unless they are unwell. Exceptions to this general rule will be rare.
Parents are encouraged to discuss any severe problems that affect or will affect a pupil’s attendance with their Form Tutor and a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
For requests of absence due to extenuating circumstances, a Request of Leave form should be completed and returned to the school. The head teacher will review all requests on an individual basis.
Medical, Dental, or other appointments should not be made during school time where possible.
If your child is unable to attend school, you must call the school office and inform us by 8:40am.
Parents must call the school office on the First Day of Absence, giving the reason and probable length of absence. On the pupil’s return to school, a signed letter or a doctor’s note confirming the absence must be given to form tutors. Without this, the absence remains unauthorised. A penalty notice will be issued for any unauthorised absences.
PUNCTUALITY
RIA sets high standards for attendance and punctuality. Students must leave home early to arrive on time, thus avoiding any unexpected problems with buses and traffic.
Pupils should arrive at school by 8:30 am. They are considered late if they are not in their form rooms at 8:40am. Late students MUST report to reception before proceeding to class.
