It gives me great pleasure to write to you as the Head teacher of Rochdale Islamic Academy. I arrived at the Academy after having spent the last fourteen years working at senior management level in two different schools and having completed the NPQH, and more recently a Masters in leadership and Management.
From my first impressions of the Academy, I was certain that this was the right school for me and was delighted to accept the position of head teacher in January 2020. I was immediately humbled by the warm welcome I received from the staff and governors and having spent several months at the school with the teachers, I appreciated their highly skilled and professional approaches to teaching and learning especially their dedication and commitment to all students.
At RIA, we provide an extensive educational experience that is ambitious, varied and stimulating. We aim for academic excellence, balanced with a wide range of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities in an open, caring and supportive environment. We believe in a holistic approach and are committed to developing the whole person: encouraging students to explore their interests through the curiosity of the mind, independence of spirit and a love of learning. At RIA we believe every individual can thrive and achieve her potential.
RIA students are driven by self-motivation, self-discipline and a common purpose, they are united through their thirst for learning and have a strong sense of pride in belonging to the diverse, inclusive and friendly school community. Our students leave RIA full of integrity and ambition, ready and equipped to make a positive contribution to society, with the world at their fingertips.
I believe the school has enormous potential and I am determined to secure an outstanding future for the Academy. I have the very highest expectations of myself, my staff and our students, and it is my firm intention we work together with parents in striving to raise standards in every area for our continued development as a great school.
This website will enable you to discover more about the school, but cannot do justice to the experience of the school itself. Over the summer (2020) we have completed an ambitious refurbishment of the main school and dining facilities, including the installation of brand-new smart boards in each classroom.
The school is now fit for purpose- an inspirational space loved by all. I would be delighted to welcome you on one of our Open Days, (virtual tours -during COVID19 restrictions) to show you around the school and answer your questions.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
